My name is Jonathan Campos | I am a Photographer.
My name is Jonathan Campos, I am a Mexican American born and raised in Los Angeles California. I created this space to display my favorite photographic work that I’ve amassed throughout the years. I have been shooting since 2008 and I have been involved in graphic design since 2001. I am completely self-taught so my methods are often unorthodox, but I’m very passionate and when I have an idea I don’t stop until I see it through. I shoot and create for me because it makes me happy. My specialty is animal photography however I enjoy all genres of photography. I’m always learning and trying to improve with goals to strengthen the range of my work.
Since I picked up my very first camera, I've been drawn to taking pictures of animals. I believe my fascination stems from my early childhood —I grew up playing with and collecting insects and arachnids. They became my pets and they captivated me. If I wasn't outside collecting critters, I religiously sat on the couch with my mom and dad watching animal documentaries on the discovery channel. I enjoyed learning about animals and I guess I never truly outgrew that. When I started photography, I immediately gravitated to that. Animal photography allowed me to celebrate what I loved and share it with others.
Aside from photography, I am also a Field Deputy Probation Officer for Los Angeles County and have been with the department since 2014. I’ve worked with troubled male and female youth, adult formal probations, and currently I am the lead Investigator for Proposition 63's gun follow up team. My career has been fantastic and the department has been a vehicle for numerous opportunities, experiences, and memories.
